Build your own global CDN.

Announce a single IP from three continents and let the internet do the routing — every visitor lands on the nearest server, automatically. It's the kind of thing the big clouds bill by the gigabyte. With BuyVM it's free with your slices.

— How it works

One IP. Many locations.

Anycast announces the same IP address — or an entire prefix — from every one of your Points of Presence at once. When a request comes in, the network's own routing tables hand it to whichever PoP is closest in network terms. Shorter path, fewer hops, lower latency, more throughput. No DNS tricks, no client-side guesswork.

Set it up once, deploy a slice in each region, and your front door is everywhere at the same time.

  • Nearest-PoP routing — visitors reach the geographically closest server with no extra config on their end.
  • One prefix, announced everywhere — the identical IP space lights up in all three locations simultaneously.
  • DDoS-protected GRE tunnels — documented in the wiki, so clean traffic keeps flowing under attack.
  • Configured in Stallion — turn it on from the same control panel that runs your slices.

— Points of presence

Three points of presence.

Two coasts and the heart of Europe — enough to put most of the western internet within a short hop of your service. Announce your prefix from all three and let the routes sort themselves out.

— Use cases

What it's for.

Anything where milliseconds matter and your audience is spread across the map. If a user in Lisbon and a user in Los Angeles should both feel like the server is next door, this is the tool.

Global CDN

Serve static assets, images and pages from the edge nearest each visitor. Roll your own content network on three slices instead of renting one by the terabyte.

Authoritative DNS

The classic anycast workload. Answer queries from the closest PoP so lookups stay fast worldwide — and stay resolving even if one location goes dark.

Game servers

Low, predictable ping decides who wins. Drop a node on each coast and in Europe so players connect to the nearest one without you running a matchmaker.

VoIP & real-time

Jitter and latency make or break a call. Anchor SIP and media on the nearest PoP so conversations sound like the other person is in the room.

— What you need

The whole bill is three slices.

There's no Anycast line item, no per-gigabyte charge, no enterprise sales call. You run one slice in each Point of Presence — three slices total — attach your prefix, and announce it. BuyVM is the only affordable VPS host that hands you anycast at all, let alone for free.

  • One slice per PoP — three slices, one each in Las Vegas, New Jersey and Luxembourg.
  • A prefix to announce — use space we assign, or bring your own with the right authorization.
  • Zero Anycast charges — the routing, the announcements and the GRE tunnels cost nothing.
  • Stallion access — everything's wired up from the panel you already use.

— FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is Anycast really free?
Yes — there's no charge for the anycast network itself, the route announcements, or the DDoS-protected GRE tunnels. The only thing you pay for is the VPS instances you run, one per Point of Presence. That's the whole bill.
How many locations can I announce from?
Three: Las Vegas, Nevada (US West); Piscataway, New Jersey (US East); and Roost, Luxembourg (Europe). Together they cover both US coasts and continental Europe — enough to put most of the western internet a short hop from your service.
Do I really need three servers?
To get the benefit of anycast, yes — one slice in each PoP so the same IP can answer from all three. You can start smaller and grow into it, but a prefix announced from a single location is just a normal server with extra steps. The point is having a presence everywhere at once.
What's a GRE tunnel?
A GRE tunnel is an encapsulated link that carries your anycast traffic between the network edge and your slice — and on BuyVM it can run through our DDoS filtering, so clean traffic keeps flowing even under attack. Setup is documented in the wiki at wiki.buyvm.net and configured through Stallion.
Can I use my own IP space?
You can either announce a prefix we provide or bring your own, provided you have the authorization to advertise it from our network. Either way you announce it from all three PoPs through Stallion — check the wiki for the current bring-your-own-prefix requirements.

Put every visitor milliseconds away.

Three slices, one prefix, zero anycast fees. Deploy in each region, announce your IP, and watch the routes find their own way home.
